Flight Education Research Center - Kalamazoo, MI

The Flight Education Research Center is the original aviation museum which opened in 1979 to display restored airplanes and war memorabilia. While this museum was usually visited by war historians and aviation buffs, the new Air Zoo has tripled the annual number of visitors, and admission gains you access to both buildings. As for myself, while I enjoy the rides and simulators in the Air Zoo, I prefer this older building with the real planes, which you are allowed to climb inside of and investigate further. This is a great educational opportunity for young children as it exposes them to aviation in a hands on way at an early age. I would recommend this type of museum for a family outing, as this has something for all members of the family, including the toddlers. Check out the link for further information.
